I am a fully qualified Primary School teacher who is able to teach a range of different subjects. I am enthusiastic about the education of children and enjoy creating fun and engaging ways to help individuals learn.
I am fully DBS certified.
I have been a fully qualified teacher for 12 years. During this time I have had opportunities to teach in every year of primary school. Although I have taught mainly in upper key stage 2, I have working in Key Stage 1 and Reception; therefore I am fully phonics trained.
I have worked with children with different SEND over the years and have been trained in areas that can support various needs. I have been fortunate to receive training on different specialist areas that can support learning for children who require certain focuses to help them thrive.
I have been tutoring for the 11+ for the last 6 year with most children being accepted into the Grammar school of their choice. During this time, I have learnt how to support children depending on their own strengths and weaknesses so that when they come to face the test they have a more balanced ability. I use a range of tools from textbooks to practical ideas as well as providing homework between sessions to reinforce learning within sessions. Near to test time I can provide sessions focused on test skills as well as the 11+ test is structured in a different format to what most children see in school.
I started tutoring while completing my Masters in Education which has helped me to develop different ways of teaching. I have continued to work as a tutor as I enjoy working with individual children to help them reach their potential.
I believe that children learn best when they enjoy what they do and have a positive relationship with their teachers. Therefore, I try to tailor activities to help each individual develop in the areas that they need support while enjoying the learning process.
