I am an enthusiastic and personable secondary school Physics teacher of key stages 3, 4, and 5, living and working in Hammersmith. Prior to this I worked in Engineering industry as a sonar analyst, so also have experience translating theory to real world application. I have always loved the problem solving aspect of Physics, and am passionate about engendering the same in others, regardless of their starting point.
I have been teaching Physics full-time for the last seven years, the latest two years of which have been at a high-achieving private girls' school in Hammersmith. In my latest year 11 class, 91% of students achieved a grade 9, with 100% achieving a grade 7 or above. Prior to teaching I worked as a Sonar Analyst at a private engineering firm for four years, specialising in algorithm development. I hold a First Class Honours in Physics (BSc) from the University of St Andrews, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Leadership (PDGE).
For me, one of the most enjoyable and rewarding aspects of teaching Physics has always been working one-on-one with students. I always start with establishing their current approach to problem solving and working models of concepts, working from that foundation by helping develop schema for the areas which need work. I am passionate about emboldening a student's own intrinsic problem solving skills, and providing a framework to empower them to utilise these in achieving a confident and thorough understanding of Physics.
