I'm a software engineer living in suburban Cambridge with a horde of guinea pigs. I wrote video games for a living, but I've also worked on medical devices and software to process telescope data in a long and varied career. I'm patient, I communicate with authority but also enthusiasm and a sense of humour.
I have dragged my kids through their GCSE and A-Level Maths. As a postgraduate I took tutorial sessions and dragged undergraduates through their maths pain. And I have, from time to time, informally tutored students and raised their grades significantly. I also worked part-time at Centre 33 helping teens struggling with growing up in the world, and understand the challenges facing young people.
I love teaching and explaining and seeing the little sparks of understanding grow. I see students as human beings with not just growing skills but feelings. I will be your champion. Don't understand something? I'll explain it. Penny still not dropping? I'll find another way. I'll support you as far as you want to go, either getting you over blocks or just supporting you every step of the way.
