ALMOST FULLY BOOKED I’m a Chartered Engineer, and spent many years at world-leading high-tech consultancies combining maths, science and problem solving - the last of which now features prominently in the new style A Levels and GCSEs and is perhaps the most challenging aspect of them. I often had to present complex technical concepts to non-technical people so it was important to explain difficult ideas in an understandable way that didn’t trivialise the underlying ideas.

I offer tuition in Maths, Further Maths and Physics which combines a thorough academic approach with a perspective on real-world applications to help in understanding and remembering concepts. I enjoy working with a range of students: from those who struggle with the subject and are just seeking to pass, to high-flyers targeting top grades; and from those still at school or college, to mature students returning to the subject after a several years break to advance or change their careers.

All tuition is conducted online using an audio-video link and a virtual whiteboard. The whiteboard is also available between sessions and keeps a record of all earlier lessons (which can be useful for revision).

Tutoring Experience

I first tutored one-to-one over ten years ago, and have since taught hundreds of students of a wide range of ages and at various levels (GCSE, A Level, HNC/HND and the QTS Professional Skills Test). I've also given seminars and lectures at Universities (Brunel University & University of East Anglia) to undergraduate and post-graduate students.

I believe that with the right tuition every student can fulfil their academic potential. Everyone learns in a different way and at a different speed so I tailor my tutoring to meet each student’s specific needs both in terms of subject matter and its presentation. I break down complex concepts into simple steps, and map abstract theories to practical examples to try to make even the most difficult ideas understandable and relevant.
