I am a fully qualified secondary school science teacher with a Master’s degree in Biochemistry. Before moving into education, I worked as a senior manager in science-based businesses, so I bring a wealth of real-world experience as well as academic expertise. I chose to become a teacher because I believe strongly in giving back to the next generation, helping young people climb that all-important first rung of the ladder.
As a tutor, I combine strong subject knowledge with the ability to inspire, encourage, and guide students to achieve their very best. I understand how important GCSEs in the core subjects are, whatever a student’s future pathway, and I aim to make science not just understandable, but enjoyable. Alongside this, I can offer practical advice on career choices, linking classroom learning to real opportunities in industry, research and beyond.
Outside of teaching, I am a keen golfer, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places, and I am a big fan of Star Wars and science fiction. Sharing my interests helps me connect with students, especially those who sometimes find science a bit intimidating ,because at the end of the day, learning works best when it feels personal, enjoyable and relevant.
I teach science at secondary school level and have an in-depth knowledge of the new AQA 9–1 curriculum for both Combined Science and the separate sciences.
My specialisms are Biology and Chemistry, though I also teach Physics with confidence. I have taught both higher and foundation classes in Year 11, supporting students with a wide range of abilities to achieve excellent results.
I hold an enhanced DBS (CRB) check and have a strong track record of helping students improve their grades, build confidence, and develop the revision skills they need to succeed not just in science, but across their studies.
My lessons are structured, clear, and always tailored to the individual needs of the student.
I am passionate about science and my enthusiasm really shines through in the way I teach. I work to make sure students see the bigger picture, why a topic matters and how it links to the world around them, so that the details and facts feel more meaningful and easier to remember.
Every student has strengths as well as areas where they feel less confident, so I focus on identifying those weaker areas and turning them into strengths.
I make sure plenty of time is given to exam practice, past papers, and proven revision techniques, so that when exam season comes around, there are no surprises. My goal is always the same: that each student goes into their exams feeling prepared, calm and confident.
I pride myself on being approachable and supportive, and I want students to enjoy the journey as well as see results.
