Anna

Hello, I’m Anna. I’ve recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Music. I am based in East Hampshire and London, and have experience teaching students from a range of age groups and abilities. Additionally, I have successfully prepared students for Cambridge interviews and have experience as an academic mentor for younger Arts and Humanities students as part of Murray Edwards College’s Gateway Programme and the Immerse Education summer schools based in Cambridge.

Outside of tutoring, I am an aspiring professional flautist having studied at postgraduate level at both the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. I am also a keen swimmer, having represented Cambridge University as a member of the women’s water polo team.

Tutoring Experience

With more than three years of tuition experience, I am excited to be able to share my passion for Maths and Music with others and help them to grow in confidence, enabling them to reach their potential and learning goals. I feel that it is important to give students the opportunity to explore their own interests beyond the subject syllabus to help them achieve top grades.

Tutoring Approach

Confidence is key when preparing for exams and 1:1 tuition is the perfect environment to develop this. Here, learning is tailored to the individual student: meaning no questions go unanswered. Personalised tuition, consolidates students' knowledge and skills from the bottom-up, giving students not only the ability but the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems and trickier higher-level questions. I encourage students to talk through their solutions and opinions, to understand not only what works or doesn't but why and how to repeat positive results.
I also find it particularly important to have students practice real exam questions and to regularly discuss exam technique to maximise their potential.
